Trebević Mountain – The Green Heart of Sarajevo

Known as the “lungs of Sarajevo”, Trebević has been a central outdoor escape for more than a century and is considered one of the birthplaces of organized mountaineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Today it is a protected natural area and one of the most accessible mountains above a capital city in Europe.

Whether you stay one night or longer, Trebević offers endless trails, viewpoints, and cultural landmarks within walking distance of the camp.

The Sarajevo Cable Car connects the Old Town with Trebević Mountain and offers one of the most scenic urban-to-nature transitions in the region.

Olympic Bobsleigh Track

The abandoned bobsleigh track from the 1984 Winter Olympics is one of Trebević’s most iconic landmarks.

Covered in graffiti and surrounded by forest, it is a unique mix of history, urban exploration, and nature.

Hike to Trebević Sofe Peak (1629m)

The highest point of Trebević, known as Sofe, offers panoramic views over Sarajevo and surrounding mountains.

Trebević has a long mountaineering tradition, with organized hiking dating back to the late 19th century.

Mountain Lodge “Jure Franko”

Located in the heart of Trebević, this mountain lodge is a key meeting point for hikers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Named after Olympic medalist Jure Franko, it represents Sarajevo’s strong Olympic heritage and mountain culture.

On clear days, the view extends across Jahorina, Igman, Bjelašnica, Treskavica, Vlašić, Vranica, Bitovnja, Ozren and many other mountains.

Ćiro Railway Trail is one of the most attractive cycling routes around Sarajevo, perfect for both MTB and gravel rides.
